I began creating hats over 20 years ago on remote outback cattle and sheep stations. I started by simply altering last year’s hats for station women to wear to the local races. The journey has evolved naturally from these secluded beginnings.
I now work from my own private studio in Broome creating head pieces for local and International clients. My creations are handmade using the classic techniques of millinery and as you can see from my feature pieces, each is a one off, with feathers hand collected and pearls locally grown in the south sea waters near Broome.
I have held two solo exhibitions, exhibited with others and am frequently invited to showcase creations in local galleries, jewelry outlets and alongside high profile events such as the Broome Polo.
Each year I showcase Hats by Felicity collections at the Broome Races with a catwalk parade. Hats by Felicity headpieces are often the head piece of choice among ladies shortlisted for Fashion’s on the Field. As the Milliner on the Move I travel far and wide with my collections, taking you on their journey from remote cattle stations to inner Sydney homes. My recent destination was New York Fashion Week where I was very proud to be the first Australian Milliner to showcase a collection on the runway at the Helen Mills Event Space on 7th September 2014. Keep up to date with all the latest news on this exciting event by following my blog Milliner on the Move and by clicking through to our Media section for the latest coverage.
